The chosen option for ripping DVD movies and saving them to a pendrive in Linux is HandBrake. It is intuitive, has a simple graphical interface and allows you to convert DVDs to formats such as MP4 or MKV.
Advantages of HandBrake:
Easy to use interface.
Allows you to adjust the quality and size of the file.
Compatible with most output formats.
Available in almost all Linux distributions
How to use HandBrake to rip a DVD:
1-Install HandBrake:
sudo apt-get install handbrake-gtk # For Debian/Ubuntu
Or with the installer available for Linux.
2- Open HandBrake and select the DVD as the source. If there is only one movie on the DVD, it will only show one.
3- Choose the output format (MP4 recommended for compatibility).
4- Configure the quality and subtitles if necessary.
5- Select the destination folder (you can choose your pendrive).
6-Click “Start” to start ripping.
HandBrake allows you to rip DVDs with subtitles included. You can choose between two options:
Hard Burn Subtitles: These are burned directly into the video, so they cannot be turned on or off. This is useful if you want to make sure that the subtitles always appear.
Soft Subtitles: These are saved as separate tracks in the output file. You can turn them on or off in compatible players.
